Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Outlines Conditions for Resuming Grain Deal

A return to the grain deal will be possible only if the systemic conditions set by the Russian Federation are met, as well as in accordance with the designated humanitarian goals. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Galuzin.

“Our position remains the same – first solving systemic problems: reconnecting Rosselkhozbank to SWIFT, resuming supplies of spare parts, establishing transport logistics and insurance, restoring Russian companies’ access to their foreign assets. After that, consideration of the possibility of resuming the Black Sea initiative and only in accordance with the declared humanitarian goals, ”Galuzin said in an interview with TASS.

The diplomat stressed that the reason for the cancellation of the grain deal by the Russian side was the use by Ukraine of the humanitarian corridor for military purposes and sabotage against military and civilian courts of the Russian Federation. “Such actions are contrary to the spirit and letter of the agreement, which, as you know, was achieved to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea,” Galuzin said.

The Kremlin announced withdrawal from the grain deal July 17th. Russia completely closed the maritime humanitarian corridor in the northwestern Black Sea. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that due to the termination of the grain initiative and the rise in prices on the world market, Russia get moreand part of the income will be shared with the poorest countries.
