State Duma deputy from United Russia, General Andrei Gurulev, said that for everyone who “goes against the state” it is necessary to revive the Gulag system. The politician stated this: answering to the questions of the presenter on the air of the Tsargrad TV channel.
“They are now telling me: ‘You want to set up a Gulag again.’” Well, I honestly say that I want those who are harming our Motherland here inside today to joyfully wave their pickaxes in the area of the Kolyma Highway. This is true. And not only I want it, but the people want it,” the deputy is convinced.
In October 2023 Gurulev offered destroy 20% of Russians who do not trust President Vladimir Putin, believing that 80% of the country’s population will support the head of state. The parliamentarian noted that he wants “all this rot that remains to be, if not isolated, then at least somehow destroyed.”
Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg Boris Vishnevsky proposed checking Gurulev’s words for extremism. However, the police and prosecutors not identified there is nothing suspicious in the deputy’s statements.
The head of the State Duma Ethics Commission, Valentina Tereshkova, supported Gurulev, arguing that he has the right to express his opinion and personal position, even proposing the extermination of part of the population.
In April 2023, Gurulev already called resume Stalin’s repressions. “It’s time to introduce the concept of “enemy of the people,” there are enemies, but there is no concept.
