The main task of the special military operation for 2023 to intercept the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) has been successfully completed, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced, quoted by TASS.
“The Commander-in-Chief (Vladimir Putin) highly rated the work of the leadership and personnel of the Ministry of Defense, thanked for the conscientious performance of the assigned tasks. The main efforts in the past year were aimed at achieving the goals of the special military operation. The main one was to intercepted the much-declared counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by Ukraine and its NATO allies. This task was successfully accomplished,” Shoigu said at the year-end conference.

According to Shoigu, this was facilitated by several determining factors – the creation of an effective system of defense lines, the high combat capability of all units and units, the reliability and efficiency of Russian military equipment. “And above all, the skillful and decisive actions of the defenders of the Motherland, who selflessly ensure the security of the country and its citizens,” the minister added.
Russia calls the unprovoked full-scale war it launched against Ukraine in 2022 a “special military operation”. During this year, Ukrainian forces failed to regain the occupied lands, but they inflicted serious blows on the Russian Black Sea Fleet and continue to demilitarize the personnel of the Russian army at the front.
