World number three, Russian Daniel Medvedev, reached the round of 16 in the Madrid Tennis Masters Championship, with a thousand points, today, Monday, by defeating his compatriot Alexander Shevchenko (ranked 96).
Medvedev won the match in two hours and 42 minutes, winning two sets against one, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5, to secure a place in the final price round.
Medvedev will play in the next round, with his compatriot Aslan Karatsev, who defeated Australian Alex de Minor, with two sets to none.
It is noteworthy that the second seed, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, had previously qualified for this round, by defeating Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.
