A person head of cryptocurrencies Russia died suddenly, rocking the universe of digital currencies. Furthermore, this is the third death of cryptocurrency tycoons in recent weeks.
As mentioned detikINET Metro’s Vyacheslav Taran, 53, co-founder of trading and investment platform Libertex, has died after his helicopter mysteriously crashed in the resort town near Monaco.
The helicopter he was in crashed on the afternoon of November 25, killing Taran, as well as a veteran pilot. Taran himself has been living in Monaco for about 10 years.
“It is with great sadness that Libertex Group confirms the death of its co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Vyacheslav Taran, following a helicopter crash en route to Monaco on Friday 25 November 2022,” Libertex said.
“The Board of Commissioners of the Libertex Group and the employees of the company offer their deepest condolences to the Taran family,” they added.
He is yet another powerful Russian who suddenly disappeared recently. The helicopter crash he experienced was considered mysterious because the weather was sunny and the pilot was very experienced.
The helicopter he was traveling in was an Erucocopter EC130, which was injured when it crashed into a cliff near a village. Local authorities along with Airbus, which manufactures the helicopter, are investigating the crash.
Taran’s death coincides with a long line of Russian billionaires who have suspiciously died this year. For example, the head of Novatek, Sergey Protosenya, together with his wife and daughter were found dead in Spain with an ax wound. Gazprom executive Alexander Tyulakov also died in February this year.
One of Taran’s companies, Forex Club, had its license revoked in Russia in 2018 for allegedly defrauding investors, according to pro-Kremlin media reports. The site claims that Taran has many disgruntled customers and enemies in Russia.
Taran, whose fortune is said to be in the billions of dollars, leaves behind a wife and three children. His wife, Olga Taran, is the head of the Hello Monaco magazine company.
This means that three cryptocurrency traders have suddenly died in the last few weeks. Tiantian Kullander, 30, died in his sleep last week. The cause of death of the founder of digital asset firm Amber Group has not been announced.
