Russian Consulate assists abandoned pensioner in Mexico, seeks further help for grandmother in Moscow

Consulate officials in Mexico provided assistance to a 73-year-old pensioner who was abandoned by her own son in the country and then crossed the border with his Ukrainian wife. The grandmother was transported to Moscow, but she needs further help, since the pensioner has no relatives in Russia. The Russian Consul to Mexico, Alexander Ivashchenko, made a corresponding request.

“With the help of our compatriots, with the help of our embassy doctor, we [российскую пенсионерку Валентину Котову] We were placed in a hotel, treated a little, and then yesterday we were sent to Russia. We are worried because she has no relatives in Russia at all,” Consul Alexander Ivashchenko told RIA Novosti.

As the consul clarified, earlier Valentina Kotova arrived in Mexico with her son and his wife. The family tried to illegally cross the border into the United States, but failed. They remained in Mexico until the pensioner’s son and his wife left for the States under the Ukrainian refugee program. Valentina herself was left alone in Mexico City. At the same time, the woman suffers from back pain and moves in a wheelchair. Diplomats contacted her son, but he refused to help his mother.
