“As a result of operational-search activities, it was established that a Russian citizen, in order to join the ranks of a Ukrainian paramilitary association, recognized as a terrorist organization and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation, initiated contact with its representative, who is engaged in recruiting and training volunteers to participate in military operations against the Armed Forces forces of the Russian Federation. The suspect was detained while trying to travel to Ukraine,” the release says.
A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under articles of preparation to commit treason and preparation to participate in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 1 of Article 30, Article 275, Part 1 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In total, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
