Six Russian balloons were spotted over Kiev, most of which were shot down by air defenses. This was announced by the military administration of the Ukrainian capital, Reuters informed.
In “Telegram” it is stated that the balloons may have carried corner reflectors and reconnaissance equipment.
The potential purpose of releasing the objects was “to exhaust our air defenses”, pointed to Kiev’s forces and specified that specific conclusions would be drawn after a detailed investigation into the matter.
This is another notification about balloons over the territory of a country.
In recent days, the US military took down three suspicious objects over North America. This came after the United States shot down an object it said was Chinese spy bubbleoff the coast of South Carolina on February 4 after it hovered over the country for days.
Beijing, for its part, said that US balloons have flown at high altitude over its airspace without permission more than 10 times since early 2022.
Yesterday, the Romanian Air Force also detected an aerial target resembling a weather balloon in the country’s airspace.
