Russian Aviation Sector: Total Collapse and Increased Danger

The Russian aviation sector, including civil flights, is on the verge of total collapse. Every flight is now Russian roulette, which is proven by the daily aviation incidents in the federation.

The number of accidents and emergencies involving Russian aircraft, especially civilian ones, has increased since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. 95% of all flights of Russian airlines are with aircraft of foreign giants. After the sanctions were imposed, Russia’s aviation sector practically collapsed.

Aviation expert and former test engineer at the “Antonov” design bureau, Konstantin Krivolap, told FREEDOM that miraculously accidents are happening in Russia at the moment without human casualties, but it is only a matter of time before a catastrophe of enormous proportions occurs.

Flying in Russia is becoming more dangerous every day, especially if you break the rules that have been developed over the past 70 years. Problems most often occur in aircraft engines, as well as hydraulic systems.

“Repairs that used to be done in a week or two now take 4-5 months or even six months,” said aviation expert Vasily Shevchenko. European and American companies do not maintain the planes (which were de facto stolen from them by Moscow) and do not supply spare parts to Russia. All aviation technical centers in Russia have their licenses revoked, that is, any repairs of aircraft carried out on the territory of the aggressor country are illegal.

In addition, Russia has been cut off from the SITA software, which can be described as the internet for air transport, and Russian pilots are no longer trained on Western trainers and simulators. Western sanctions have made Russian civil aviation hopeless and dangerous.

This causes the Russian authorities to commit “cannibalism”. “A decision has been made at the government level and cannibalism has been recognized as legal. That is, those planes that can no longer work are disassembled, the spare parts are taken away and installed on others, but they are also not enough. And this is a government decision! The consequences are gross violations of flight safety,” Vasyl Shevchenko explains. This is how we get to the point where 30% of the stolen Western aircraft after the sanctions are out of service.
