Experts predict a reduction in parallel imports of cars by 2024
According to the forecasts of the head of the Russian Automobile Dealers Association, Alexey Podshchekoldin, the volume of parallel imports of foreign cars into Russia will decrease by at least half by 2024.
As the expert notes, large dealers are already abandoning this practice due to difficulties in servicing such cars, high costs of logistics and customs duties. Although demand for prestigious brands like Mercedes, BMW and Audi is still high. Another problem is the lack of technical documentation and spare parts for new models, which makes their warranty service difficult. Parallel imports also run counter to the interests of Chinese automakers actively entering the Russian market.
It is expected that the authorities will tighten the rules for the import of foreign cars by introducing additional duties to support domestic auto production and official dealers. As a result, prices for imported cars in Russia will continue to rise. Thus, a reduction in parallel imports promises an increase in demand for Chinese brands with a developed dealer network and a wide range of models. At the same time, the choice and prices for Russian buyers of imported cars are significantly narrowed. (photo: ru.freepik.com)
At the same time, Lada Vesta cars ran out in Russia itself. Fortunately, so far this has affected models in the cheapest configuration.
