Russian Authorities Require All Doctor-Patient Conversations to Be Recorded on Computers in Clinics – Read More on OBOZ.UA

In Russian clinics, doctors’ work computers are wiretapped. Now all conversations between the doctor and the patient will be recorded. And representatives of the Russian authorities can connect to the doctor’s computer at any time and listen to what he is talking about with the patient.

Patients say this violates their rights. However, Russian authorities claim that everything was done to improve the quality of service.

Read more about this in the OBOZ.UA material.

In Moscow, all conversations between the physician and the patient are now recorded at a doctor’s appointment, in pursuance of the order for audio monitoring of medical appointments.

The essence of the innovation is that now every doctor, as soon as a patient enters his office, is required to press a special button on his work computer and start recording the appointment. Starting with the words “Hello, Doctor” and ending with goodbye.

Russian authorities claim that such records are necessary to improve communication between doctor and patient. And the heads of clinics are obliged to ensure that records are stored in a place inaccessible to unauthorized persons, separately from electronic medical records, for a month.

They also assure that all records are anonymized – they will not contain patient or doctor data. By the way, in clinics where registration is already being made, the doctors’ work schedule is also transmitted to the health department. Therefore, it is very easy to calculate by time what kind of doctor is on the recording.

In addition, Moscow doctors are now prohibited from addressing patients as “man” or “woman,” but only by their first and patronymic names. So there will still be personal data on the recording.

But no one will take permission from visitors to make audio recordings.

This innovation caused discontent among Muscovites, although not everyone. Only 48% expressed a negative attitude towards this decision.

Doctors write in chats that they were shocked when they learned about the order.

“To say that we were stunned is to say nothing. My doctor even started swearing when she heard about it. Now the appointment with the gynecologist has been deleted from the order, and before that it was necessary to make an appointment even there. Okay, but will the urologist have an appointment? ” – Svetlana, a nurse at one of the city clinics, is indignant.

“We couldn’t believe that they could come up with something like this! A patient came to us and asked, is it true that we are recording the conversation? I say it’s true. He silently turned around and left. It’s just 1937, when you were eavesdropped on from every hole , and now they have done it legally. I think now many will simply go to private clinics to avoid such humiliation. Whatever you say about the safe storage of records, sooner or later they will appear on social networks or somewhere else. People can use them blackmail. I’m just sure that all these recordings will end up in the “right hands” of our special services and police,” the Moscow doctor says indignantly.

Moscow residents themselves write that such trash will not help protect them from the rudeness of doctors.

“If you complain about a doctor and there really is something on the record, they will immediately “lose” it or say that there was a technical failure. You still won’t find the truth,” shared pensioner Tatyana Prokopyevna.

True, in some clinics doctors have already handed over passwords to their computers to management. They say that in this way the head physician or even the health department will control the appointment, will be able to connect to the computer and listen to everything that happens in the office.

Many Russians are confident that such records from doctors are one of the links in the upcoming mass mobilization. In this way, the intelligence services will track those who want to avoid being sent to war and are trying to negotiate with a doctor about a certificate, diagnosis, etc.

“Russians are already accustomed to the fact that denunciations, snitching, and surveillance are flourishing in the country. They know that even for an extra word in a parent’s chat you can end up in prison. Therefore, the news that they will be recording in doctors’ offices did not cause much of a reaction. There will be go to clinics less, they won’t say unnecessary things – that’s all. But no one will be loudly indignant in Russia anymore,” says Moscow doctor Nikolai, who for the same reasons does not disclose his data.

Such a huge number of records will be decrypted using artificial intelligence. Therefore, it will be very easy to control statements regarding the so-called SVO, war, abortion, LGBT and other sensitive topics in Russia.
