One person was killed in Russian attacks on the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson on Saturday. Seven people were injured, Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin announced. The region was bombarded with several Russian attacks throughout the day, including one sustained attack on residential areas in the city of Stanislav in the early evening.
The Russian military also shelled a power plant closer to the front line in eastern Ukraine, wounding five workers. In addition, electricity to the town of Kurakhovo was cut, the head of the local administration, Roman Padun, told public broadcaster Suspilne. Residents were leaving the city in droves, he said.
A year ago, Russian forces abandoned their positions on the west bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region, but since then there has been continuous shelling from the east bank. According to the Ukrainian army, several attacks were repulsed.
