“One of the buildings of the Institute of Communications was partially destroyed. People were trapped under the rubble. Many of them managed to be saved. 206 people were injured. Unfortunately, many died. At the moment, 47 deaths are reported,” Zelenskyy wrote on the social network. He added that Russia will pay for this strike.

According to Reuters, the military institute of communications in Poltava, which is located in the central part of Ukraine, suffered an attack.

Zelenskyy repeated the call to Ukraine’s partners to provide the country attacked by Russia with additional air defense systems and long-range weapons, which, according to him, can protect Ukraine from Russian terror. “We need them now, not later. Every day of delay unfortunately means more lives lost,” he added.

At the same time, President Zelensky ordered an investigation into all the circumstances of what happened. According to him, all necessary services are involved in the rescue operation. Head of Regional Administration Filip Pronin on Telegram he wrotethat many residents of Poltava donate blood and that “coordinated actions of rescuers and paramedics saved many lives today (Tuesday)”.

Ukrainian Ministry of Defense marked Tuesday as a “terrible day” for Poltava. It said the time between the sounding of the alarm and the arrival of the missiles was so short that the strike caught people in the middle of evacuating to cover.

Czech President Petr Pavel also commented on the shooting. His office said Tuesday’s attack was further evidence of what a Russian victory in Ukraine would mean: a victory of violence and sheer lawlessness.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jan Lipavský (Pirates), in turn, stated that Russia has committed another war crime in Ukraine, which shows the necessity of continuing to supply Ukraine with weapons and air defense systems. He also added that Ukraine has the right to attack military targets in Russia.

According to Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS), the Czech Republic is helping Ukraine precisely to prevent such bloodshed as in Poltava.
