Russian attack on Ukraine’s energy industry: missiles flew 2,030 km to Stryi and hit an important object – Details

Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko noted that the energy infrastructure was once again the target of the occupiers, and the attack caused serious damage.

Russia’s night attack: what is known about the consequences

Around midnight, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced the launch of the Shaheds, which flew over the territory of Ukraine for several hours. Later, it was also reported about the launch of missiles from strategic bombers: they entered the airspace of Ukraine at around 5 o’clock in the morning. Air defense was operating in a number of regions, but there are also arrivals.

Thus, Minister of Energy Galushchenko reported on the attack on generation facilities and transmission systems in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, and Kyiv regions. “The Russian Federation also attacked two thermal power plants of DTEK. The equipment of the enterprises was seriously damaged,” he wrote on Facebook.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced in the morning that Russia launched 40 drones at night, 37 of which were shot down. The Air Force is still clarifying information about the missiles.

It is known that the city of Stryi in the Lviv region was attacked with X-47m2 “Kinjal” supersonic missiles. There was a takeoff of 8 MiGs, so, most likely, that’s how many rockets flew at the city. “The cruise missiles covered a distance of approximately 2,030 kilometers before reaching Stryi,” the Lvivych Telegram channel said.

The head of the Lviv OVA, Maksym Kozytskyi, reported that at night, enemy cruise missiles of various classes and unmanned aerial vehicles attacked two objects of critical energy infrastructure in the Lviv region.

“This is a gas distribution infrastructure facility in Stryi district and an electric substation in Chervonohradskyi. Fires broke out. They were quickly extinguished by firefighters. There were no casualties or injuries. All life support systems of Lviv region are working normally,” he said.

Explosions in Kyiv region, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv: what is the situation

On the morning of April 11, the head of Kyiv OVA Ruslan Kravchenko reported that the region was massively attacked by kamikaze drones and rockets at night.

“The alert lasted for more than 5 hours. Unfortunately, during the aerial alert, a critical infrastructure object was attacked in the Kyiv region. So far, no information has been received about the victims and the dead. All emergency services are on site, the fire at the object is being extinguished,” he wrote .

The head of Zaporizhzhya OVA, Ivan Fedorov, also reported on the shelling of the region. “During a massive missile attack, at 5 in the morning, the enemy directed air-guided missiles from tactical aircraft at our area. The air defense forces destroyed 2 missiles, but, unfortunately, there were also hits. In the Zaporizhzhia district, an energy infrastructure facility was damaged.” , he noted, adding that currently no information about the victims has been received.

The situation in Kharkiv is difficult. S-300 missiles hit the city and suburbs. Oleksiy Kuleba, the deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, noted that Kharkiv was hit by at least 10 rockets that night. “Currently, there are already power outages in the region – more than 200,000 subscribers of the Kharkiv region are left without electricity. The metro works as a shelter,” he wrote.
