Family tragedy

Serhiy Haidarzhy, a resident of Odesa, southern Ukraine, is mourning the loss of his wife and 4-month-old baby boy, who were tragically killed in a Russian attack. Like every night, Anna, Haidarzhy’s wife, was in the bedroom with their baby Tymofii, while he was putting their older daughter Liza to bed. Little did they know that this night would change their lives forever. Serhiy Haidarzhy is likely alive today because his wife fell asleep.

According to Haidarzhy, he usually dozes off in Liza’s room and is woken up by Anna. However, on this fateful night, Anna fell asleep with their baby, not calling him as usual. As a result, they were together when the Russian attack turned their apartment into a pile of concrete and bricks, with only the room they were in remaining intact.

Devastating loss

The attack, which occurred in Odesa, a strategic city in southern Ukraine, resulted in the deaths of twelve people and left twenty others injured, some critically. This brutal incident has left the locals in a state of shock, sadness, and anger. The site of the attack now serves as a poignant reminder, adorned with flowers, candles, and toys, of the lives that were lost.

Unthinkable destruction

The extent of damage caused by the Russian drone attack on the residential building was profound. Investigators are working diligently to determine the type of drone employed in the assault. The wreckage, as well as the high casualty count, has led to speculation that the drone might have been a modified version, capable of inflicting greater destruction.

According to Natalia Humeniuk, a spokeswoman for the Southern Operational Command, the enemy is believed to be constantly improving the offensive capabilities of their drones, potentially by reinforcing the warheads. The destruction caused by this attack is not a common occurrence, and the increase in drone capabilities is a growing concern.

Children as innocent victims

Heartbreakingly, five children lost their lives in the Odesa attack, Tymofii being among them. A tragic loss of innocent lives that has left the entire community devastated.
