Russian athletes must participate in the 2024 Olympic Games as individual athletes. This statement was made by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
“We, of course, need to maintain the level of our athletes, but it is impossible to do this without international competitions. We know that there will still be athletes who will personally take part in the Olympic Games in 2024. I am convinced that we need to take part in this way,” said Dmitry Peskov, as quoted by RIA Novosti. In addition, Peskov noted that in this way Russia will be able to maintain high sporting achievements at international competitions.
The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. Russian and Belarusian athletes were not allowed to compete, reports RT. For the most part, this is due to a special operation. The fact is that at the beginning of the year, athletes offered to exchange participation in international competitions for criticism of the SVO.
