Russian Athlete Alexander Petrov Wins Gold at GTP World Taekwondo Championship in Bishkek

Alexander Petrov won “gold” in the weight category 82+ of the GTP World Taekwondo Championship, the press service of the Gelendzhik administration reports.

Competitions were held in the capital of Kyrgyzstan – Bishkek. More than 980 athletes from 27 countries participated in them.

The victory of Alexander Petrov in the individual standings of the GTF World Taekwondo Championship (GTF – Global Taekwon-do Federation) allowed the Russian team to win the first team place.

Earlier, an athlete from Tuapse Arina Makeeva replenished her treasury of awards at the world taekwondo championship in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. In the masogi discipline, where sparring fights take place, Arina defeated all her rivals and took first place in the weight category up to 65 kg. She also won a silver award in the stop-point discipline, which evaluates the technique of striking.

In addition, the Kuban athlete took the “gold” of the international wrestling tournament. In the final bout Timur Bizhoev in weight up to 74 kg defeated the Olympic champion, two-time world champion Zaurbek Sidakov from North Ossetia.
