At the beginning of September, the Russian army first used the FAB-1500 (1,500-kilogram high-explosive bomb) with a universal planning and correction module (UMPK) in the war zone in Ukraine, writes Forbes.
The fall range of the aerial bomb has been increased several times (compared to similar ammunition of lower power) due to the new design of the hull.
With a declared accuracy of 5 m, the bomb’s explosion crater reached about 15 m in diameter. The affected area is more than 2 square kilometers.
Even now the Su-34 can carry two such bombs, and in the future it will be able to operate with three munitions, one or different targets in one flight.
