Russia’s ambassador to Great Britain has been summoned to the ministry to answer the accusations, reports Reuters.
According to the British authorities, a group of hackers worked on behalf of the FSB and tried for several years to hack British politicians, journalists and non-profit organizations.
Russian authorities have so far not commented on the case, but have previously rejected similar accusations from Western countries, calling them Russophobia and propaganda.
Sky News and the news agency PA quotes Secretary of State Leo Docherty in the British Foreign Ministry as saying that the Russians succeeded in obtaining access to private conversations between British elected representatives and government employees. Sky writes that it concerns a group called “Star Blizzard”. According to Reuters, it is also referred to as “Cold River” and “Callisto”.
Docherty describes the whole thing as an attack on democracy and an attempt to “interfere in British politics”.

Since 2015, the group has used a technique called “spear-fishing” to steal sensitive information from a “significant” number of elected officials, reports the channel.
Among other things, according to the British Foreign Office, the group is said to have gained access to trade documents between the United States and the United Kingdom that then Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn used in the election campaign in 2019.
Recently, British politicians have spoken very negatively about Russia, which has been the target of the attacks, writes Reuters.
