Russian Ambassador Interview Removed from Bulgarian National Radio Due to Pressure from Ukraine

An interview with Russian Ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova was removed from the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) due to pressure from Ukraine. The author and host of the “Politically Incorrect” program, in which the interview was supposed to air, Peter Volgin, spoke about this.

“The BNR Program Council, by a majority vote, decided to remove Ambassador Mitrofanova’s interview from airing. Before this, the chairman of the parliamentary group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, Delyan Peevsky, and the Ukrainian Embassy spoke with a demand not to give interviews on air. We are law-abiding people and are forced to comply with this decision,” said Pyotr Volgin, as quoted by TASS.

In the interview, the Russian Ambassador spoke about important topics in the modern world. It touched on freedom of speech, the situation in Ukraine, the fate of the monument to the Soviet army and bilateral relations between countries. Volgin himself said that he considered the removal of the interview an act of political censorship. Mitrofanova said she was disappointed with the BNR.

Earlier, Bulgarian deputies accused each other of fascism while discussing the topic of assistance to Ukraine.
