WASHINGTON (ParsToday/MoreNews) – Russia’s ambassador to Washington has dismissed US claims that Moscow may use chemical weapons in Ukraine as unfounded, calling it another anti-Russian move by Washington.
The Iranian news agency reported today, citing Ria Novosti, that Anatoly Antonov called US Secretary of State Ned Price’s comments that Russia could use chemical weapons in Ukraine “worthless” and “unfounded”.
Russian Ambassador to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, announced at a UN Security Council session on Friday (local time) that Moscow was warning the international community of the danger of terrorists stealing biological material from Ukrainian laboratories.
Nebenzia warned Security Council members that dangerous pathogens could cross the border into Ukraine and spread across Europe.
The Ambassador of Russia to the United Nations also noted that the United States does not allow international inspections of Russian-backed biological laboratories in Ukraine.
The Russian ambassador to the UN said the US refusal to inspect these labs meant secrecy.
The diplomat in Vladimir Putin’s government said the Russian Defense Ministry received documents showing that a network of 30 laboratories in Ukraine is studying the correction of pathogens of deadly diseases.
