The Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria Eleonora Mitrofanova commented on the incident of espionage in GDBOP at the request of TASS, noting that between Russia and Bulgaria there has been good cooperation in the field of special services before.
“The incident with the accusation of a special services officer in charge of combating organized crime with espionage for the benefit of Russia is a big mystery to me. I don’t know the details of the case, but I can say that earlier on the line of the special services there was good cooperation between our countries, which concerned the issues of fighting organized crime and terrorism. After the expulsion from Bulgaria in 2022 of the FSB representative who was responsible for this area, the cooperation stopped”she said.
We remind you that the court placed a police officer from the GDBOP under house arrest on charges of espionage.
The prosecutor’s office claims that the data obtained prove the fact of his long-term communication with representatives of the Russian special services, to whom it is alleged that he provided information about the work of not only the Bulgarian, but also the partner services.
