In an interview with ABC News, Biden went on to say, among other things, that he would make Putin “pay a price” for attempts to influence the US election. Russia denies that it interfered. Putin has responded with, among other things, ‘whoever said it did it’, the Russian version of the children’s saying ‘what you say is yourself.’ He also wished Biden “good health.” And so he brought Ambassador Anatoli Antonov back to Moscow to discuss relations with the United States. They have become increasingly icy lately. For example, the Americans have imposed sanctions against Russian officials in response to the poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, for which they hold the Russian secret service FSB responsible.
Navalny himself managed to arrange a phone call with an FSB agent late last year, before he was imprisoned in a prison camp. He let himself be fooled that he spoke to someone from the National Security Council and told frankly about the poisoning with the nerve poison novichok. In the conversation it emerged that the waist had been tucked into Navalny’s underpants. The politician fell seriously ill, but survived the assassination attempt.
