Russian airline under fire after penis-shaped flight

The aviation authority is now calling on parent company Aeroflot to fire Pobeda’s head. According to the authority, the pilot endangered the safety of the passengers with his action.

The pilot’s strange action happened on November 11, during a flight from Moscow to Yekaterinburg. There were 102 passengers on the plane, a Boeing 737-800.

Tribute to sex video

According to the Moscow Times the pilot flew the silly route as a tribute to footballer Artem Dzyuba, the captain of the Russian national team. The Zenit Saint Petersburg striker was removed from the national selection a few days before the flight, because a sex video of him surfaced on social media.

On November 10, budget airline Pobeda already submitted a request to fly a penis-shaped route, but no permission was given. So on the flight to Yekaterinburg such a route was still flown.

Airplane ‘had to discharge fuel’

The airline would have stated afterwards that the aircraft flew the route because it had to discharge fuel, but according to the Moscow Times, the aircraft in question has no system to discharge fuel at all.

According to the aviation authority, this indicates that it was a deliberate action by the airline.
