Russian airline to lay off about 200 pilots due to sanctions

The layoffs are related to the previously imposed sanctions against Russia and the ban on Russian airlines to operate and buy components for Boeing aircraft.

The group of companies plans to keep several crews in case it receives permission to return the aircraft to foreign leasing companies.

“The company’s resources are not unlimited. The optimization of the number of personnel is carried out in stages in order to be able to mothball the fleet,” said a representative of Volga-Dnepr.

The number of pilots in AirBridgeCargo at the beginning of the year was 300 people, in Atran – about 110. The company does not disclose the total number of employees. Thus, the group of companies is reducing about 50% of the entire staff of pilots who have experience and the right to operate Boeing aircraft.
