Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed today, Tuesday, that Russian air defenses shot down two attack drones in the Russian capital.
“The air defense shot down two attack drones, one in the Krasnogorsk region and the other in the Chassy region,” Sobyanin said on the Telegram application, adding that emergency services were mobilized to respond to the incident.
And the Russian Tass news agency reported that the three largest airports in Moscow suspended arrivals and departures in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
“The airspace is closed over Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo,” an official told the agency, which did not reveal his identity.
“Flights are not being received and departures have been postponed,” he added.
Social media pioneers circulated videos that it said documented the Russian air defenses’ response to the marches that targeted Moscow.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the army had intercepted two Ukrainian drones over the Black Sea on Monday evening.
The military said in a statement that the two drones crashed into the water at around 11:00 pm local time, 40 km northwest of Crimea.
