Russian activist Olga Misik is placed under house arrest for 2 years and 2 months for vandalism. In addition, she may not be outside between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., the judge ruled.
Last summer, Misik was arrested after smearing a prosecution building with paint. She had also put up a banner with support for political prisoners. Since then she has been under house arrest and is not allowed to use the internet.
The activist gained notoriety in 2019 when, as a 17-year-old girl, she read the constitution to riot police during demonstrations. The photo of ‘the girl with the constitution’, in which Misik, sitting cross-legged and wearing a bulletproof vest, reads the article about the right to peaceful protest, went all over the world.
