Russia may be the first to apply nuclear weapon – in the case of “a real threat to the existence of the country.”
This statement was made in an interview with the propaganda resource URA.RU by Alexei Zhuravlev, First Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
“Russia can deliver the first nuclear strike. This will happen if there is a threat to the existence of the Russian Federation,” he said.
He also made accusations against the United States, claiming that they are “doing everything” to start World War III.
“They will still try not to lead to nuclear strikes, but they will try to draw the whole of Europe into a conflict with Russia, ignite the situation in Asia,” says the State Duma deputy of the aggressor country.
Russian nuclear threats
Former Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov hintedthat in the future his state may use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Later he again did not rule out such a possibility, however, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that nuclear weapons will not be used.
Prior to this, President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that the world needs to get ready to a nuclear strike by the aggressor. In turn, Aleksey Arestovich, Advisor to the Head of the President’s Office warned the Russian leadership against nuclear strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
At the US State Department threatened the Kremlin with consequences in the event of a nuclear attack on Ukraine.
