Russian director Klim Shipenko and actress Yulia Peresilda went into space on Tuesday to shoot scenes for the upcoming film “Vizov” (“The Challenge”).
This will be the first time an art film has been made in space.
38-year-old Shipenko and 37-year-old actress Peresilda have taken off with the spacecraft “Soyuz” from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. They are accompanied on a space mission by an experienced astronaut Anton Škaplerov.
Astronauts at the International Space Station (ISS) are also expected to play minor roles in the film.
The 12-day mission was announced in September 2020, four months after Hollywood announced a similar project with actor Tom Cruise.
Shipenko will also control cameras, arrange lighting, sound and make-up in space.
Before going into space, he admitted that other things would work out, but others would not.
