“Polish and allied aircraft have started operating in our airspace,” the Polish military said.
“The Warsaw Armed Forces activated all available forces and resources, including deploying fighter jets on duty and deploying ground-based air defense and radar systems on the highest alert ,” the military continued.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a statement, said that Moscow launched a large-scale joint attack involving about 120 missiles and 90 drones across Ukraine.
According to Zelensky, Moscow uses several types of missiles, including Zircon and Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, as well as the Shahed attack drone designed by Iran. “Kyiv captured more than 140 incoming targets,” Zelensky said.
A Russian drone strike in Ukraine’s southern Mykolaiv region killed two people and injured six others, including two children, according to Ukraine’s leader.
The governor of Mykolaiv region, Vitaliy Kim, said that two women were killed, seven people were injured and several buildings were destroyed. One person died in the western region of Lviv and two others were injured, Ukraine’s state emergency service said.
The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia fired one Zircon hypersonic cruise missile, eight Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles and more than 100 Kalibr and Kh-101 cruise missiles and several other types.
“Ukraine shot down 102 missiles and 42 drones,” the Ukrainian Air Force said, “Air defense was successful in almost all areas.”
