Russia will allocate 4,816 budget places in higher education institutions for African students in 2025-2026, Kirill Bogomolov, deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo, told RIA Novosti.
“Quotas for African countries are increasing. For the 2024-2025 academic year, a total of 4,746 places have been allocated, and 4,816 places will be allocated in 2025-2026,” the official said on the sidelines of a ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi.
Kirill Bogomolov added that the main countries benefiting from Russian quotas in Africa for the 2024-2025 academic year were Chad, Mali, Congo, Nigeria, Zambia, Benin, Guinea, Zimbabwe, Egypt , Algeria and Angola.
He also said African states should encourage their students in Russia to study for Africa rather than staying in the country of study.
The first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum was held on November 9-10 in the Federal Territory of Sirius, Russia. Around 1,500 delegates, including more than 40 ministers from African states, attended the event.
Previously, on November 11, the Russian Ministry of Education and the Chadian Ministry of National Education and Civic Development agreed to cooperate in the field of general and secondary vocational education.
