An Italian-Swiss pharmaceutical company has agreed to produce the Sputnik V vaccine developed by Russia in Italy, Stefano Maggi, a spokesman for the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce, said on Tuesday.
“The vaccine will be produced from July 2021 [uzņēmuma] At the Adienne plant in Lombardy in northern Italy, Maggi told AFP.
“Ten million doses will be produced between 1 July and 1 January 2022,” he added, noting that this was “the first agreement at European level on the production of the Sputnik vaccine in the European Union (EU).”
“If the vaccine is not approved in Europe by 1 July, [Itālijā] The doses produced by Sputnik will be bought by the Russian State Fund and distributed in countries where Sputnik vaccines have been approved, “explained a spokesman for the Chamber of Commerce.
Last week, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) launched the Sputnik V accelerated assessment procedure, taking an important step towards the eventual approval of the first non-Western vaccine in the EU.
Hungary has already approved Sputnik V and started using the vaccine. The Czech Republic and Slovakia have also ordered doses of Sputnik V and state that they will not wait for EU approval.
