Russia is not expected at the Munich Security Conference

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not take part in the Munich Conference either in person or via video link.

Russian officials will not participate in the Munich Security Conference (MSC) this year. This was stated by the speaker of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, reports TASS on Wednesday, February 9th.

“According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Russian officials will not take part in the upcoming meeting of the Munich Conference on Politics and Security on February 18-20 this year for various reasons,” she said.

In turn, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said earlier that Vladimir Putin will not take part in the Munich conference either in person or by video link.

Recall that the Munich Security Conference will be held on February 18-20 with the participation of about 35 heads of state and government. Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken are expected to represent the United States. The German delegation will be headed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Also the participation of the President of Ukraine is also expected Vladimir Zelensky.

As you know, in 2021 the Munich Security Conference it was held in an online format because of the coronavirus. Official representatives of the Russian Federation were not invited to the event for the first time since 1995.
