The Ukrainian president, Volodímir Zelenskistated this Wednesday that Russia is preparing to mobilize an additional 300,000 soldiers in June.
“I can assure you that Russia is preparing to mobilize 300,000 additional troops on June 1”he stated during a press conference in kyiv with the Finnish president, Alexander Stubb.
Asked about the needs of the Ukrainian army in this regard, Zelensky refused to provide specific figures, but assured that throughout this year “half a million is not needed.”
The Ukrainian president himself, who yesterday ratified a law to reduce the age of mobilization from 27 to 25 years, had said last December that the army commanders had demanded the mobilization of 500,000 additional men.
For his part, at the press conference Stubb refused to speculate on a scenario in which Finland could send troops to Ukraine.
«There is no reason for Finland to send troops to Ukraine. We support Ukraine in every possible way.”stressed the Finnish president, who this Wednesday signed an agreement to provide security guarantees to Ukraine for the next ten years.
In the current context, the priority is to provide kyiv with weapons, ammunition and training, as well as pave the way for it to enter the European Union and in the I’LL TAKE, he claimed. EFE (I)
