In a press release from Russia’s ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, on Saturday, he said that Russia mourns with the United States, and he proposed reviving cooperation against terrorism despite conflict over other issues.
He said that Russia would like to resume the bilateral dialogue on combating terrorism that the two countries’ foreign ministries had in 2018-19.
Russia is grateful that the United States shared information that helped avert terrorist attacks in St. Petersburg in 2017 and 2019, he said.
President Vladimir Putin was the first foreign leader to call then-President George W. Bush after the 2001 terrorist attack, and Russia backed when the United States invaded Afghanistan in search of al-Qaeda a month later.
