Russia Warns US Not to Deploy Troops in Former Soviet Countries

MOSCOW Russia warned United States of America (USA) not to deploy its troops in the ex-Soviet countries of Central Asia followed withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan . The warning was made directly by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergei Ryabkov.

Ryabkov said that Moscow delivered the message to Washington for ” Russian President summit puncak Vladimir Putin with the US President Joe Biden in Geneva last month.

The warning comes as the US military said last week that 90% of the withdrawal of US troops and equipment from Afghanistan have been completed. Biden said the US military mission in Afghanistan would end on August 31.

“I would stress that the reassignment of America’s permanent military presence to neighboring Afghanistan is unacceptable,” Ryabkov said.
