MOSCOW – Military confrontation in Ukraine has reached a point that could easily turn into a major conflict between Russia and NATO . This was stated by Moscow’s deputy envoy to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky.
The Russian diplomat blamed the deepening involvement of the US-led military bloc in the fighting between Moscow and Kiev.
“We have repeatedly warned that the situation is quite dangerous and there is a great risk of a direct clash between Russia and NATO,” Polyansky said in response to a question on X, formerly Twitter, as quoted from RTSunday (3/9/2023).
He said the US-led alliance had been supporting Ukrainian troops in every way, except for direct troop deployments.
“Moscow sees many indications that there are instructors, mercenaries in Ukraine,” said the deputy Russian envoy.
He also mentioned several “strange messages” about the deaths of NATO officers and generals.
“This raises grave suspicions,” he said.
“We cannot rule out that they (NATO specialists) participated in certain actions in Ukraine,” added Polyansky, without citing specific examples.
