Russia warn of crisis threat missile new in Europe in the midst of tension between Moscow and the West over accusations United States of America Cs if Moscow is planning an invasion of Ukraine early 2022.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov blamed the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for expanding their military capabilities in eastern Europe near his country’s borders.
Reported Reuters, Ryabkov warned Europe to defuse tensions before it was too late and turned into a missile crisis like during the Cold War.
He even compared the threat of the current missile crisis to that of the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, where the US and the Soviet Union were a step closer to full-scale nuclear war.
“You know, it can really happen. If things continue it’s very possible that suddenly you are in a similar event,” Ryabkov said when asked that tensions in Ukraine could turn into a Cold War stalemate, as quoted by the newspaper. Press TV.
Over the past few weeks, Russia and US allies such as NATO and the European Union have accused each other of causing tension in the region.
The United States and its allies have accused Russia of planning an invasion of Ukraine. Moscow later accused Kiev of spreading false news about the invasion plan.
As a result of these tensions, US President Joe Biden and Russian President, Vladimir Putin, held a virtual meeting. During the meeting, Biden warned of the sanctions and consequences if he decided to invade Ukraine.
The US has previously claimed to have evidence that Russia will carry out an invasion of Ukraine. However, Moscow disputed the findings.
