Russia warned it will expel Western journalists if YouTube blocks conferences

Zajarova’s press conferences are not always blocked by YouTube, although they did stop broadcasting some.

Russia warned on Thursday that it will expel Western media and journalists if the YouTube video platform again blocks the press conferences of its diplomatic spokesmen.

Both YouTube and other social networks and web pages explained that they blocked official Russian media and pages after the offensive in Ukraine, in some cases for Western sanctions and in others because they consider that they misinform, a decision that for Moscow evidences the “Russophobia” of the West.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zajarova said today that if the US video giant once again blocks its weekly live press conferences, “an American journalist or media outlet will go home,” the agency reported. of Russian news TASS.

“One more news blackout and we will give a specific name, a specific media outlet,” Zajarova warned, before adding that this could also implicate media from other countries, since YouTube is run by “a lady with a Polish passport,” in reference to Susan Wojcicki, the person in charge of the platform.

“Given Poland’s position (on Russia), we may not limit (retaliation) to the Americans,” she added, quoted by the AFP news agency.

Zajarova’s press conferences are not always blocked by YouTube, although they did stop broadcasting some.
