Russia vs Ukraine Current Situation Summary, Sunday 27 March

It’s been more than a month Russia invade Ukraine. Various attempts were made to stop the war, ranging from negotiations to the offer of a referendum on East Ukraine.

However, this series of efforts has not stopped Russia from attacking the former European Union country.

1. Russia Claims Phase I War Is Over

Russia claims the first phase of its military aggression against Ukraine has been completed, a month after the invasion took place.

Deputy General Staff of the Russian Military, Colonel General Sergei Rudskoy, revealed that the military operations of his troops would return to focus on the main goal of ‘liberating the Donbas’ from Ukraine. This area is known to have long been controlled by the Pro-Moscow separatist group.

“In general, the main tasks of phase one of the operation have been completed. The combat potential of the Ukrainian armed forces has been significantly reduced. This allows us, I emphasize again, to focus the mission on achieving the main goal – the liberation of the Donbas,” Rudskoy said, at a meeting on Friday ( 25/3).

2. Curfew Rules in the Ukrainian Capital

The Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, imposed a curfew from Saturday (26/3) to Monday (28/3) amid the first phase of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine which it claims is over.

“The military command decided to strengthen the curfew, starting from Saturday at 20.00 until Monday at 07.00 a.m. local time,” Kyiv mayor Vitaly Klitschko was quoted as saying. AFPSaturday (26/3).

Kiev is known to have repeatedly imposed a curfew. The city government began to enforce this rule from the first days of the Russian invasion.
Under the regulation, civilians who go out more than the specified hours will be considered as spies.

3. 7 Russian Generals Killed in Ukraine

Western officials claim Ukraine has killed Russian generals since the Kremlin first launched its invasion.

The Russian general who was recently killed was Lieutenant General Yakov Rezanstev. He is the Commander of the 49th Joint Army of Russia in the southern military district.

In addition, the general of the Chechen Special Forces, who also helped Russia in the war in Ukraine, Magomed Tushdev also died.

So far, the Russian generals killed during the invasion include Lieutenant General Andrey Mordvichev, Major General Oleg Mityaev, Major General Vitaly Gerasimov, Major General Andrei Kolesnikov, and Major General Andrei Sukhovitsky.
