Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the new concept of Russian foreign policy during his meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council on Friday.
Putin made it clear that international developments require Russia to adjust its foreign policy.
He continued, saying: “The radical changes in international life have required us to seriously amend the main strategic planning documents, including the concept of Russia’s foreign policy, which defines the principles, tasks and priorities of diplomatic activity,” according to what was reported by “Russia Today”.
In turn, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow seeks to build a new world order that will be the basis for international relations.
He added that “the use of force against those who threaten Russia will be our new doctrine.”
He pointed out that “the new concept of Russian foreign policy provides the possibility of introducing symmetric or asymmetric response measures, as the United States is called, in the new concept, the initiator and the main leader of the anti-Russian line in the world.”
Lavrov added that in light of the conditions of external threats, the new concept of Russian foreign policy emphasizes that the principle of security linkage is available on the basis of parity. The new concept also speaks of a serious restructuring of the global economy.
Lavrov stressed that the new concept of Russian foreign policy logically reflects the revolutionary developments in international affairs.
