Russia’s foreign ministry said on Tuesday that four Lithuanian, three Latvian and three Estonian diplomats were being expelled from Russia in response to the expulsion of Russian diplomats from the Baltic states.
LETA has already written that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday summoned the ambassadors of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in connection with the expulsion of diplomats from the Baltic states, referring to an anonymous source in the ministry, the Russian news agency TASS reports.
“At 12 noon, three ambassadors of the Baltic states will be summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with Russia’s reciprocal decision to expel their diplomats,” TASS said.
It has already been reported that four employees of the Russian Embassy are being deported from Lithuania, but three from Latvia and Estonia. The expulsion decision was taken in connection with Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and the incompatibility of its activities with diplomatic status.
