Russian athletes will perform with the national flag and anthem at the Games of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the Americas (ALBA), which will be held in Venezuela, reports TASS with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Sports.

The Russian delegation is planned to include 48 athletes who will compete in boxing, beach volleyball, karate, table tennis, trampolining, weightlifting and rhythmic gymnastics.

The head coach of the Russian national gymnastics team Valentina Rodionenko said earlier TASSthat will not send team leaders to Venezuela and those athletes who need competitive practice will go to the Games.

As part of the Games, which will be held from April 21 to 29, competitions in 35 sports are planned. In total, about 3.5 thousand athletes from 11 countries are expected to participate in the Games.

Russians for competitions at the end of February invited Venezuelan Minister of People’s Power for Youth and Sports Mervyn Maldonado.

ALBA includes Venezuela, Bolivia, Antigua and Barbuda, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Nicaragua, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
