Russia expects to receive payment for gas in rubles from April

In Europe, they reminded the Russian Federation that gas supply contracts indicate settlements in euros and dollars.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov on Monday, March 28, said that Russia does not intend to supply gas for free. This is how he reacted to statements that European countries do not intend to pay for Russian energy in rubles.

“We will resolve issues as they come up. The fact that we will not supply gas for free is unequivocal. This can be said with absolute certainty. In our situation, it is hardly possible and expedient to engage in European charity. The supply process is very, very complicated, it is not buying some product in a store – you buy and pay at the checkout. These are deliveries, and payment, and summing up balances, these are processes stretched out over time. Now all modalities are being worked out,” he said.

At the same time, Vladimir Putin instructed the government, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and Gazprom to implement measures to transfer of payments for gas into rubles with “unfriendly countries”.-

It was stated that prices and volumes in previously concluded contracts would not be changed, only the payment currency would change.
