At the instigation of the United States, the United Nations (UN) agency will hold a vote to decide on the suspension of Russia’s membership of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Reporting from the Reuters news agency, Thursday (7/4/2022), in response to that, Russia threatened UN member countries that voted yes or abstained in the vote which would be seen as a “unfriendly gesture” that would have consequences on bilateral relations. Earlier, the United States said Monday it would seek Russia’s suspension from the UN Human Rights Council after Ukraine accused Russian troops of killing hundreds of civilians in the city of Bucha.
