Government Russia threaten a number of foreign companies that leave the country. They threatened to arrest company officials who criticized the Russian government’s move to invade Ukraineseize assets, including intellectual property.
Citing a Wall Street Journal report on Monday (14/3), Russian prosecutors have issued warnings to several foreign entities, either by summons, letters to in-person visits. Some of these foreign entities are Coca Cola, McDonald’s, and Pizza Hut.
“This warning prompts at least one of the companies to restrict communication between Russian businesses and the rest of the company, out of concern that emails or text messages between colleagues could be intercepted,” according to the Wall Street Journal. .
Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Procter & Gamble, and Yum Brands have not yet responded to the threat from the Russian government.
Russia is currently facing economic sanctions from western countries for their move to invade Ukraine. Not only that, the sanctions also imposed a number of world companies.
Several world companies decided to leave and suspend their business plans in Russia in the aftermath of the invasion.
As of now, more than 50 big companies in the world have decided to leave Russia in the aftermath of the country’s policy of invading Ukraine.
Leading companies include McDonalds, Coca-Cola and Apple, as well as major oil groups, such as BP and Shell.
The move was followed by Goldman Sachs confirming that it is ceasing operations in the red bear country completely. Other banks are likely to follow suit.
