FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Palestinian and Israeli conflict has heated up again recently. It is said that the dispute could trigger a new world war.
This was stated by the Chair of the Indonesia-Palestine Friendship Initiative (PPIP), Din Syamsuddin. He said this was influenced by Israel’s plans to attack Gaza and expel the Palestinian people from their hometowns
“The double standard of the United States which supports Israel by providing weapons assistance and providing aircraft carriers, and President Vladimir Putin’s firm stance in supporting Palestine with the capital city of Jerusalem has the potential to encourage a new world war,” said Din Syamsuddin, quoted on Sunday, (15/10/2023).
The former Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council said that Muslims throughout the world must take action, especially the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OKO). Firm and clear in supporting Palestine.
“It is not enough for the OIC to issue a statement but it must take the form of action: Either through diplomacy by urging the UN to be functional and effective in upholding peace and justice, or preparing self-defense through war if that is necessary,” he said.
Likewise, he said there were two political organizations in Palestine. We should be united for Palestine.
“It’s time for Fatah and Hamas to put aside their strategic differences because the Israeli threat is on their doorstep,” he said.
“Indonesia, the government and the people, need to show a firm attitude in accordance with the instructions of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, namely to realize lasting peace and eliminate all forms of colonialism on the face of the earth (for decades Israel colonized Palestine),” he added.
