English will reopen their embassy in Kyiv next week, when troop movements Russia in the capital Ukraine it started to sag.
“We in the near future, next week, will open our embassy in the Ukrainian capital,” said British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, during a visit to India today, Friday (22/4).
Currently, the British embassy in Kyiv is not operating. The British moved their embassy operations to a deemed safe area of Ukraine, Lviv, shortly before Russia began the invasion.
Not only England, a number of other Western countries, such as France, Spain, and Italy have also taken similar steps. But now, these countries have also reopened their embassies in Kyiv.
The British Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, said that the embassy’s reopening was possible thanks to “the tenacity and extraordinary success” of Ukraine’s resistance to Russian troops.
“I want to pay tribute to the courage and tenacity of the embassy team and their persistence during this period,” Truss was quoted as saying. AFP.
However, neither Johnson nor Truss disclosed the exact date for the reopening of their representative office in the Ukrainian capital.
Although their embassy in Kyiv will resume operations, the UK continues to urge Britons not to travel to Ukraine.
The reopening of the embassy was carried out when Russian troops no longer insisted on attacking Kyiv. Now, Russia is concentrating its attacks on eastern Ukraine.
The biggest battlefields are currently in Donbas, to be precise Luhansk and Donetsk, as well as Mariupol.
Directly bordering Russia, Donetsk is considered a gateway for the Red Bear Country to enter Crimea, the area they annexed in 2014.
Meanwhile, Mariupol itself is between Donetsk and Crimea. If it manages to seize these areas, Russia is considered to be able to control the eastern to southern regions of Ukraine.
Ukraine also accused Russia of wanting to split its country into two, like North and South Korea.
