Russia signed a secret agreement with Iran on the return of enriched uranium

During the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Iran in July 2022, the two countries allegedly signed an agreement on the return to Tehran of the 2015 enriched uranium exported as part of the “nuclear deal”.

As writes “European Truth”this was reported by the TV channel with reference to intelligence sources. Fox News.

“Putin, who made a special trip to Iran to negotiate arms deals between the two countries, agreed to approve the Iranians’ request, apparently due to his interest in compensating the Iranians for their help (in the war in Ukraine),” Fox News quoted its sources.

According to them, Tehran seized the opportunity when Moscow needed drones for the war in Ukraine, and demanded a “nuclear guarantee” that would allow “quickly restore its uranium stocks to the amount and enrichment level that was maintained before the restoration of the “Iranian nuclear deal” .

The terms of the agreement allegedly provide that in the event of the US officially withdrawing from the “nuclear deal”, Russia “as soon as possible” will return to Iran the enriched uranium that was removed after the conclusion of the 2015 agreement.

Mojtaba Babaei, a spokesman for the Iranian mission to the UN, did not directly comment on the Fox News information, but noted that Tehran “does not plan to create nuclear weapons, since its military doctrine prohibits the use of weapons of mass destruction in any form.”

The US State Department declined to comment, but noted that “in any case, the ‘Iranian nuclear deal’ has not been on the agenda for several months.”

Recall that former US President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear deal with Iran in 2018, declaring its ineffectiveness, and resumed Iranian sanctions. This led to Tehran’s resumption of previously banned nuclear activities and revived US, European, and Israeli fears that Iran might be seeking to build a nuclear bomb. Iran denies having such ambitions.

The Joe Biden administration has renewed participation in the agreement and, over the past two years, tried to revive it, but to no avail.
