Russia Shoots Down 20 Ukrainian Drones Near Crimea: Latest Updates

The situation around the peninsula Crimea keep heating up. Authority Russia said it had shot down 20 drone Ukraine near Crimea.

Fourteen drones were destroyed by the air defense system and another six were destroyed by electronic warfare or electronic warfare, the Russian Ministry of Defense said on Telegram as reported by news agencies AFPSaturday (12/8/2023).

According to the ministry there were no casualties or damage in the incident.

Meanwhile in Moscow, officials said on Friday (11/8) local time, that the Russian military had destroyed a drone aimed at the Russian capital. This is the latest incident in a series of attacks on Moscow in recent days.

Previously, the airspace at two airports in Russian territory was temporarily closed on Friday (11/8) local time, with arriving and departing flights temporarily suspended. The closure was triggered by drone interference in the airport area.

As reported by Reuters, Friday (11/8/2023), the closure of airspace was carried out at Vnukovo airport in the Moscow area and at Kaluga airport, which is 150 kilometers southwest of the Russian capital on Friday (11/8) local time.

“For reasons beyond the control of the airport authorities, temporary restrictions on the landing and take-off of aircraft have been imposed in Vnukovo,” the Vnukovo airport authority said in a statement.
